support to revive Saarc
The government of Bangladesh actively pursues backing from India for the revitalization of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to manage regional challenges by increasing regional partnerships. Interim Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain visited Muscat to confer with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar about SAARC revival and Ganges Water Treaty restoration.
A broader planning for diplomatic efforts by Bangladesh’s current executive government with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus at its helm includes the SAARC revival. Yunus has explained the eight-member bloc possesses the capability to manage multiple regional matters through revitalization. During the UN General Assembly meeting he intends to talk with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi about this initiative.
Indian leadership has chosen the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) over the revitalizing of SAARC. The country of Bangladesh under Yunus’s leadership joins forces with Pakistan to revive SAARC even though India has placed its priority on BIMSTEC. The joint effort serves as a method to include India and tackle problems that affect the region as one united group.
The scheduled 2016 SAARC summit faced postponement due to security reasons thus causing a suspension of all organizational activities. The government of Bangladesh now demonstrates strong dedication to revive regional collaborations for stability.
Bangladesh pursues Indian backing to reactivate SAARC because the country aims to solve regional problems by strengthening regional working partnerships.
